Why you'll love this recipe

I am a very snacky person and I usually prefer crunchy things. When I feel like I want chips, I will usually pull out some carrots and keep them near the couch. Sometimes carrots just don't cut it. These crackers are super easy to make, great for snacky times, and are also fantastic for road trips or camping. These crackers actually have a story to them. There was a teacher at my high school who used to sell crackers during our school pride week. These crackers literally had a reputation throughout our whole school and she would run out of them very quickly. People would be lined up after school to buy them. You were lucky if you could buy them! Anyways, this was as close as I could get to replicating the famous crackers.

How to make this recipe

If you do not want to bake them, you do not have to. Honestly you could just shake them in the bag every so often for a couple hours and the flavors and oil will have set into the cracker. I like to bake them because it gives it a little color and awakens the flavor. Also, if sprinkling the spices on the cracker and flipping them over and repeating the process is annoying, just shake them in the bag, put them on the cookie sheet, and cook em'!

Substitutions and Additions

You could do these with other crackers like wheat thins but it might taste weird. Also...you could do these with normal saltines... but the whole point of whole wheat is to give you a little fiber. Whenever you can have the option to switch from refined grain to whole wheat, totally do it. I hated whole grain bread, rice, and bread 5 years ago. I pushed myself to integrate into my diet and now I love it. It provides more flavor.
