Rolled oats are a good source of fiber, and when soaked overnight, they become a bit softer and easier to digest. Eating fiber-rich foods can help you feel fuller for longer, maintain healthy digestion, and lower your risk of heart disease and certain cancers. Oats contain a decent amount of protein, and when combined with milk and yogurt, the protein content of overnight oats increases. Protein is important for muscle repair and growth, and also helps you feel full and satisfied. Unlike many breakfast cereals that are high in added sugar, overnight oats can be customized based on your personal preferences, without relying on excessive amounts of sugar. In case you have a condition that you need to watch carb, take it easy on the overnight oats. While there is much fiber, the overnight oats are high in carbohydrates.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1/4 cup plain oikos pro greek yogurt (or vegan yogurt)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Directions

1. Combine the oats, milk, yogurt, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt in a bowl or jar with a tight-fitting lid.

2. Stir everything together until well combined.3. Cover the bowl or jar and refrigerate it overnight, or for at least 4-6 hours.

4. In the morning, stir the oats to mix everything together.

5. Top with your desired toppings and enjoy!
